This review is based on OnePlus’s published specifications and public benchmark data for the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro, and the rating is spec-based. GoSolo does not physically test devices; where we estimate real-world behaviour such as battery life or charge time, we say so. How we rate phones.

Overview

The Ace 3 Pro pairs a capable 8+ Gen 1 processor with a roomy 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED display and rapid 100W charging, making it a solid mid-range choice for users who value screen real estate and speed without flagship cost. Battery life is merely adequate for daily use, and the camera system feels competent rather than ambitious.

Design & build

The Ace 3 Pro is a straightforward glass-and-plastic sandwich weighing 203.5 grams and measuring 8.8 mm thick. It sits comfortably in hand for its size, though it is not light by modern standards. Gorilla Glass 5 covers the front, and IP65 water and dust resistance means it shrugs off splashes and debris without the added bulk of a sealed case. The plastic frame feels tougher than it looks, and the glass back does pick up fingerprints instantly, so a case or skin is practical if not mandatory.

Display

The 6.7-inch Fluid AMOLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate is the device's strongest trait. It delivers colour depth, genuine blacks, and smooth scrolling that belies its 2022 vintage. Peak brightness of 950 nits means you can read and navigate in direct sunlight without squinting. The 1080p resolution at 394 ppi is the catch: text is sharp enough for most, but sit it next to a 1440p phone at the same price and the softness becomes apparent. For video and gaming, the resolution is irrelevant; for extended reading, it is a mild compromise.

Performance

The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 was flagship-tier in 2022 and remains competent in 2024. Gaming at high settings, heavy multitasking, and everyday apps run without lag or thermal throttling in normal conditions. UFS 3.1 storage keeps file transfers and app launches snappy. RAM starts at 12 GB and tops out at 16 GB, both sufficient for dozens of background apps without forced reloads. There is no meaningful performance hiccup here for daily users or mobile gamers.

Software

ColorOS 12.1 over Android 12 is dated by 2024 standards—the phone has not received major OS updates since launch, and security patches are sporadic at best. The interface itself is clean and responsive, with customisation options that OnePlus users expect. If long-term software support matters to you, look elsewhere; if you plan to replace the phone within two or three years, this is passable.

Camera

The 50MP main sensor with f/1.8 aperture, optical image stabilisation, and phase-detect autofocus produces solid daylight shots with natural colour and good detail. Night mode is competent but not exceptional. The 8MP ultrawide captures a wider field of view but at the cost of obvious softness and edge distortion. The 2MP macro is a novelty; in practice, you will rarely need it. The 16MP selfie camera is fine for video calls. Overall, the camera system does the job but lacks the confidence or innovation of phones at this price point in 2024—it feels like an earlier-generation compromise.

Battery & charging

The 4800 mAh battery paired with a bright 120Hz display yields about a full day of moderate use, perhaps into an evening if you are gentle with refresh rate and brightness. Heavy users will see the battery dip below 15 percent by dinner. The 100W SuperVOOC charging is the real story: a full charge from empty takes roughly 20–30 minutes, and a 10-minute charge session will carry you through most of an afternoon. This speed does not compensate for the small battery, but it makes daily recharging painless in a way that 65W or 80W charging does not.

Value & verdict

At roughly 500 EUR, the Ace 3 Pro sits in a crowded mid-range segment where it is neither the cheapest nor the most feature-rich. The 8+ Gen 1 and 100W charging set it apart, but the 1080p display, ageing software, and small battery are clear trade-offs against rivals that offer 1440p screens, newer chips, or larger capacity in the same bracket. If you prioritize screen smoothness, gaming performance, and charging speed, this phone delivers. If you need long battery life, fresh Android versions, or a cutting-edge camera, you will find better value elsewhere.

Verdict

This phone suits people who game regularly, scroll heavily, and do not mind charging daily in exchange for a smooth, bright screen and near-instant top-ups. Skip it if you need multi-day battery life, current software support, or a camera that feels like a focal point rather than an afterthought.

Strengths
  • 100W SuperVOOC charging delivers a full charge in roughly 20–30 minutes, so even a 10-minute top-up carries you through an afternoon
  • 6.7-inch 120Hz Fluid AMOLED display is bright (950 nits peak) and smooth, with no meaningful lag in scrolling or gaming
  • Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 handles everything from Genshin Impact to multitasking without stuttering, and UFS 3.1 storage is fast
  • 100W charging significantly outpaces the 65W or 80W norm in phones at this price level in 2022
Trade-offs
  • 4800 mAh battery struggles past a single day of moderate to heavy use, forcing daily charging despite the fast top-up speed
  • 1080p display resolution at 6.7 inches yields 394 ppi—adequate but noticeably softer text than 1440p rivals at similar prices
  • Camera system is functional but uninspired: 50MP main sensor with OIS is solid, but the 8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro feel like filler rather than real strengths
