This review is based on Oppo’s published specifications and public benchmark data for the Oppo K12x (China), and the rating is spec-based. GoSolo does not physically test devices; where we estimate real-world behaviour such as battery life or charge time, we say so. How we rate phones.

Overview

The K12x trades raw power for value: a bright 120Hz OLED screen and rapid 80W charging on a Snapdragon 695 means capable everyday use but limited gaming and only 1080p video. At €170 it's well-priced for its display and battery, though performance and video are noticeably behind 2024's faster midrange rivals.

Design & Build

At 162.9 × 75.6 × 8.1mm and 191g, the K12x is large but light, a trade-off of the plastic frame and back in place of glass. The thin profile feels modern, though 8.1mm is slim enough to flex slightly under load. Plastic reduces drop damage compared to an all-glass chassis, but the glass front will still need protection. Color options are muted—gray and light green—and the overall feel is competent rather than striking. For a €170 phone, the build is solid and the weight distribution is even; you won't notice it in a pocket.

Display

The 6.67-inch OLED screen at 1080 × 2400 pixels is the brightest part of this phone. At 1200 nits in HBM mode it punches well above its price for sunlight readability, and the 120Hz refresh keeps scrolling and gaming smooth. Text and icons at 395 ppi are legible but not razor-sharp compared to 1440p phones—fine print may show pixelation on close inspection. The 87.2% screen-to-body ratio leaves room for bezels, but they are not disproportionate. For mixed use and streaming, this screen impresses; for reading dense text or detailed work, the 1080p resolution is a compromise you will accept at this price.

Performance

The Snapdragon 695 paired with 8GB or 12GB RAM handles WhatsApp, email, casual browsing, and light apps without strain. Tasks feel responsive in everyday use. But this is a 2024 phone running a late-2021 chipset, and that gap shows in games: Genshin Impact and PUBG demand low settings and still stutter. The Adreno 619 GPU is competent for 2D and light 3D workloads, but demanding titles expose its limits. By mid-2024 standards, rivals at this price had moved to the Snapdragon 7 series or MediaTek 8200, offering 15–20% better gaming and multitasking headroom. If your use is productivity and messaging, the 695 is plenty; if gaming or video editing matters, look elsewhere.

Software

ColorOS 14 on Android 14 is Oppo's standard interface, adding a custom layer of widgets, system sounds, and app integrations over stock Android. ColorOS is fast enough and does not clutter the home screen by default, though it ships with a few preloaded apps. Updates are typically rolled out for two to three years, which is average for Chinese brands selling globally. The experience is familiar and reliable, without standout features or friction.

Camera

The 50MP f/1.8 main camera captures decent daylight detail and the large aperture helps in low light, though the f/1.8 is no longer exceptional for this price. The 1/2.76" sensor and lack of optical zoom mean you get only one usable focal length, and cropping wastes megapixels. Video is the weak point: 1080p@30fps with only gyro-EIS means footage is soft and prone to jitter on handheld movement, visibly behind phones that offer 4K or optical stabilization. The 16MP selfie camera is standard fare. For casual stills and social media, this camera is functional; for anything beyond that, it underperforms.

Battery & Charging

The 5500 mAh battery paired with the modest Snapdragon 695 should deliver one full day of mixed use without drama, possibly into a second day if you are light on games and video. That is solid longevity. The 80W charger tops the battery in roughly 50 minutes as claimed, which is fast enough for a meaningful top-up between meetings. The charger is required (not included in the box, standard for this era), but carry it and you will rarely stress over remaining charge. Battery capacity itself is not class-leading—it is generous, not exceptional.

Value & Verdict

At €170, the K12x arrives in a busy segment. You are paying mainly for the bright OLED screen and fast charging; everything else is middling or behind the curve. The Snapdragon 695 feels like a choice to hit a price point rather than a capability threshold, and 1080p video in 2024 is difficult to defend on a phone with a fancy screen. Rivals like the Poco or Motorola equivalents at similar prices often pack faster chips and 4K video capture, trading battery size or screen brightness. The K12x will suit someone who prioritizes display quality, battery life, and charging speed above all else and who does not game or shoot video seriously. For users who want better performance or modern camera features at the same cost, the Snapdragon 695 is a step too far back.

Verdict

This phone makes sense for buyers who stream, scroll, and message most of the day and want a bright, large screen that charges quickly. If gaming or video recording matter, or if you need a chip that won't feel slow in a year, look for a rival with a newer processor at the same price—the 695 is a genuine limitation here.

Strengths
  • 120Hz OLED display with 1200 nits brightness (HBM) makes sunlight viewing and scrolling feel genuinely good
  • 5500 mAh battery with 80W charging reaches 0–100% in 50 minutes, and the large cell supports a full day or more of mixed use
  • Plastic back and frame keep weight down to 191g and reduce shatter risk despite the glass front
  • Stereo speakers and 3.5mm jack are still aboard, useful for media consumption and older accessories
Trade-offs
  • Snapdragon 695 is visibly dated for 2024—rivals at this price now ship the 7 series or better, limiting gaming headroom
  • 1080p video capture at 30fps with gyro-EIS only looks soft and jerky next to 4K-capable phones, even midrange ones
  • Optical in-display fingerprint sensor tends to be slower and less reliable than capacitive alternatives, especially with wet fingers
