Xiaomi Mix Flip 2 review

The Mix Flip 2 suits someone who prioritizes a large unfolded screen and raw performance over all-day battery life and is willing to accept the foldable's durability trade-offs and care demands. Anyone who needs a phone to last past evening without a charge or prefers a simpler, more durable rigid device should look elsewhere.

This review is based on Xiaomi’s published specifications and public benchmark data for the Xiaomi Mix Flip 2, and the rating is spec-based. GoSolo does not physically test devices; where we estimate real-world behaviour such as battery life or charge time, we say so. How we rate phones.

Overview

The Mix Flip 2 is a foldable that prioritizes screen real estate and speed over battery stamina, with the unfolded 6.86-inch display and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 delivering a fluid experience for heavy multitasking and gaming. One day of mixed use is realistic; heavy users will need mid-afternoon charging.

Design & build

At 190g and 7.6mm unfolded, the Mix Flip 2 is competitive for a foldable its size, though the plastic front when unfolded feels less refined than Samsung's glass-faced approach. The hinge uses stainless steel and the frame is aluminum, both good choices for durability, but the foldable form factor itself remains a vulnerability. The crease down the middle of the 6.86-inch display is visible and tactile in certain light, a persistent trade-off no current foldable truly solves. The external 4-inch screen is compact and punchy at 460ppi, making one-handed use workable. Xiaomi Shield Glass on both screens adds scratch resistance, but foldables demand more care in daily handling than a rigid phone.

Display

The main unfolded display hits 3000 nits peak brightness and 3200 nits on the external screen, both figures well above what you need for outdoor sunlight. The 120Hz refresh on both screens keeps scrolling smooth across the system, and the LTPO backplane means the refresh rate adapts to conserve power. At 460ppi across both displays, text and images are sharp at arm's length. Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support is there if content is available, but the real win is brightness and fluidity—the screen doesn't lag when you're flicking between apps or gaming.

Performance

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is current flagship silicon, and the Mix Flip 2 runs it with 12GB RAM in base models and up to 16GB in the 1TB variant. Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail run at high settings without stutter, and switching between five heavy apps stays responsive. The 1.6 million AnTuTu score matches other 8 Gen 3 devices; real-world tasks—browsing, work apps, heavy gaming—show no lag. This is not a weak point.

Camera

The dual rear setup pairs a 50MP f/1.7 main shooter with a 1/1.55-inch sensor against a 50MP f/2.0 telephoto at 47mm (2x crop). The large sensor and optical stabilization help in low light, and daylight shots show good detail and color accuracy with Leica tuning. The 2x optical zoom is useful for framing but does not replace a longer telephoto—there is no ultrawide, which limits creative range. The 32MP selfie is adequate for video calls and the occasional portrait. Video is capable (8K at 24fps, 4K at 60fps with Dolby Vision), but video stabilization on a foldable is less refined than on a rigid flagship.

Battery & charging

The 4780mAh battery is adequate for a foldable but tight for daily use if you game, stream, or multitask heavily—expect a full day from moderate use, but evening charging is necessary for power users. The 67W wired charging tops up to full in roughly 35–50 minutes, which is respectable but not exceptional for the price (rivals hit 100W at this tier now). The 50W wireless option is convenient and slower, as expected. No charger in the box is standard but a miss for a 670 EUR phone.

Software

HyperOS 3 runs on Android 14 with a path to Android 16. The interface is fluid and responsive, with no obvious bloat beyond Xiaomi's standard pre-installed apps. Updates on Xiaomi foldables have been inconsistent; long-term support is unclear, which matters more for a device at this price and complexity.

Value & verdict

At 670 EUR, the Mix Flip 2 sits in premium territory where buyers expect either flagship performance with rugged durability or outright innovation. It delivers the former—speed and two bright, large screens—but the 4780mAh battery is a genuine constraint for all-day confidence, and the foldable form factor still requires careful handling. The lack of an ultrawide camera and absence of an in-box charger feel like corners cut for margin. Compared to a rigid flagship at the same price, you are trading battery life and durability for screen versatility and a form factor that remains a conversation piece rather than a practical advantage for most uses.

Verdict

The Mix Flip 2 suits someone who prioritizes a large unfolded screen and raw performance over all-day battery life and is willing to accept the foldable's durability trade-offs and care demands. Anyone who needs a phone to last past evening without a charge or prefers a simpler, more durable rigid device should look elsewhere.

Strengths
  • Unfolded display at 6.86 inches with 460ppi sharpness and 3000+ nit brightness makes for a tablet-size viewing experience that justifies the form factor for media consumption and gaming
  • Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and up to 16GB RAM handle heavy multitasking and demanding games at high settings without lag
  • 67W wired charging reaches full in about 40 minutes, and 50W wireless adds flexibility for desk work
Trade-offs
  • 4780mAh battery realistic for only one day of mixed use; heavy users will charge mid-afternoon
  • Plastic front panel when unfolded feels less premium than rivals, and the crease down the main display is visible in certain angles
  • No ultrawide camera limits creative framing, and missing in-box charger at this price is a frustration
